DEVICE BACKUP

Complete every step before converting your phone to an ALIVE host.

POINT OF NO RETURN

Once you convert this device, it becomes ShortFactory property as per the custodian agreement you signed. All existing data, accounts, apps, wallets, and credentials on this device will be permanently erased. If you skip a backup step and lose access to a crypto wallet, email account, authenticator app, banking app, or anything else — that is entirely on you. We told you. Back it all up. Now.

1
Google Account Backup

Your Google account syncs contacts, calendar, app data, and settings. Make sure it's all backed up to the cloud before we wipe.

  1. Go to Settings > Accounts > Google
  2. Tap your Google account
  3. Enable sync for: Contacts, Calendar, App Data, Drive
  4. Go to Settings > System > Backup
  5. Tap Back up now and wait for completion
  6. Verify at drive.google.com on another device
2
Photos & Videos

Photos are irreplaceable. Back them up to Google Photos AND to your laptop via USB cable. Belt and braces.

  1. Open Google Photos > Settings > Backup > turn ON
  2. Wait for "Backup complete" message
  3. Connect phone to laptop via USB cable
  4. Copy entire DCIM folder to laptop
  5. Also copy Pictures, Movies, and Download folders
  6. Verify photo count matches on laptop
3
Messages & Contacts

Text messages, WhatsApp chats, and contacts. Export everything you care about.

  1. Contacts: Already covered by Google sync (Step 1). Verify at contacts.google.com
  2. SMS: Use SMS Backup & Restore app from Play Store. Export to Google Drive
  3. WhatsApp: Settings > Chats > Chat Backup > Back up to Google Drive
  4. Telegram: Already cloud-synced, just make sure you know your login
  5. Signal: Settings > Chats > Chat backups > Create backup (save passphrase!)
4
Authenticator Apps & 2FA

THIS IS THE ONE PEOPLE FORGET. If you use Google Authenticator, Authy, or any 2FA app, losing it locks you out of accounts permanently. Do not skip this.

  1. Google Authenticator: Open app > Transfer accounts > Export. Scan QR on new device
  2. Authy: Enable multi-device in settings, add to another device, then disable multi-device
  3. Microsoft Authenticator: Enable cloud backup in settings
  4. For every account using 2FA: log in on another device and verify you can access it WITHOUT this phone
  5. Save backup codes for all critical accounts (Google, GitHub, banking, exchange accounts)
5
Crypto Wallets & Banking

If you have crypto on this phone and you lose the seed phrase, it is gone forever. We are not responsible. This is your final warning on this point.

  1. Seed phrases: Write down every wallet's recovery phrase on PAPER. Not a screenshot. Paper.
  2. MetaMask: Settings > Security > Reveal Secret Recovery Phrase. Write it down
  3. Trust Wallet: Settings > Wallets > Show Recovery Phrase
  4. Any other wallet: Find and record the seed/recovery phrase
  5. Banking apps: Verify you can log in via browser or another device
  6. PayPal/Stripe: Verify access from another device
  7. Test restoring one wallet on another device to be sure
6
Apps, Documents & Downloads

Anything else on the phone that matters. Game saves, documents, downloaded files, notes, music.

  1. Connect phone to laptop via USB
  2. Browse through ALL folders — especially Documents, Download, Music
  3. Copy anything you want to keep
  4. Notes apps: Export or sync (Google Keep, Samsung Notes, etc.)
  5. Game saves: Check if cloud-synced, export if possible
  6. App-specific data: Any app that stores data locally — export it
7
SIM Card & Network

The ALIVE creature needs internet. Decide how it's going to stay connected.

  1. Option A — WiFi only: Remove SIM, creature uses home WiFi. Free but limited to home range
  2. Option B — Keep SIM: Creature has mobile data. Moves with you. Costs data plan
  3. Option C — Data-only SIM: Get a cheap data SIM. Creature has its own connection
  4. If removing SIM: transfer your number to another device first
  5. If keeping SIM: ensure phone bill is handled
8
Final Confirmation

This is it. Last chance. After this, the phone becomes an ALIVE host.
